Psychiatry

Our psychiatric and behavioral services are unlike any available to this patient population in the region. At the Lee Specialty Clinic, highly qualified psychiatrists, recruited from around the nation, provide multiple behavioral services, including psychiatric assessment, patient-centered psychotherapy, and pharmacological intervention. All of these services are provided with the understanding that each patient is unique.

Neurology

Conditions affecting the nervous system in patients with IDD can create significant problems for patients and care-givers alike. Our Neurology team delivers high-quality patient care in a compassionate and empathetic environment.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is one of the most common but most effective interventions in the treatment of patients with IDD who present with neuromotor and / or movement difficulties. Our compassionate therapeutic staff work together to improve their quality of life and promote independence for all the patients they serve.

Occupational Therapy

Maintaining and improving physical well-being is crucial for patients with IDD. Our highly trained occupational therapy staff work with our patients and their families, teaching them interventional techniques that help them meet the multiple challenges of everyday life.

Speech and Language Pathology

Improved communication skills and achieving safe-swallowing are among the most rewarding outcomes for patients with IDD and their families. Our Speech and Language Pathology program combines the best diagnostic technology with a committed and empathetic staff to produce significantly improved health and social outcomes for our patients.

Behavioral Analysis

Understanding the stressful issues and conditions that can produce challenging behaviors in a patient with IDD, and working with that patient to develop positive responses to those stressors can significantly improve that patient’s quality of life. Our talented Behavior Analysis team works closely with virtually every other discipline in creating breakthrough clinical outcomes, and reducing dependence on medication.

Crisis Intervention

All families affected by IDD, at some point, will experience moments of crisis. Our experience, knowledge, and compassion in dealing with special patients in crisis makes us the ideal partner to have at your side in such moments. Our crisis intervention leaders are respected throughout the disabilities community as a dedicated team that has produced remarkable and positive results at times when almost every other positive outcome seemed impossible to achieve.

Ophthalmology

Problems with sight and vision are particularly common among patients with IDD, yet ophthalmological conditions can be among the most challenging conditions to treat in this patient population. Our highly skilled ophthalmological staff creates a relaxed and empathetic clinical environment, which promotes patient cooperation and allows for their vision care needs to be properly addressed.

Podiatry

From basic hygiene issues to complex structural anomalies, foot and ankle problems are frequently encountered in patients with IDD. Communication difficulties, gait changes, and chronic medical conditions make podiatric care a crucial yet often-overlooked treatment option for patients with IDD. The Lee Specialty Clinic provides high-quality in-house podiatric services and podiatric referrals.

Audiology

Hearing deficits are quite common in patients with IDD. Improving hearing can help improve overall communication skills, creating immeasurable improvements in the quality of life for our patients, their families, and their caregivers. The Lee Specialty Clinic provides in-house audiology services and audiology referrals, delivered by compassionate and dedicated clinicians.

Nutrition

As people’s health statuses changes, so too do their needs. As they age, people with IDD are at higher risk for both obesity and malnutrition. The Lee Specialty Clinic can provide patients and their families with thoughtful, expert guidance on affordable options for optimal nutrition.

Other Specialist Services

The Lee Specialty Clinic can provide patients with IDD with a broad range of specialist services and referrals. These services include gynecology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, cardiology, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and periodontal surgery. Our care begins and ends with the whole patient.
