Pre-Doctoral Developmental Dentistry Rotation
The Pre-Doctoral Developmental Dentistry Student Rotation program is based at the Lee Specialty Clinic and affiliated with the University of Louisville School of Dentistry (ULSD). This clinical rotation is designed to help dental students learn techniques and develop the practical skills that can be applied when treating this unique patient population.
The rotation builds on the concepts presented in the ULSD prerequisite didactic lecture course, Concepts in the Care of the Adult Patient with Special Needs, given in the third year of dental training. It provides students with an opportunity to experience the unique rewards of treating this extraordinary patient population. It is not uncommon for dental students to become captivated by these special patients. On graduation many apply for enrollment in clinical and research externships and in the AEGD residency and mini-residency programs.
